Abdul Qadeer, born April 1, 1936 in Bhopal, British India) is a Pakistani nuclear scientist and metallurgical engineer, widely regarded as founder of Pakistan's nuclear program, his middle name is ocassionally rendered as Qaudeer, Qadir or Qadeer and his given name is usally abbreviated as AQ.
In 1972, the year he received his doctorate, Abdul Qadeer Khan through a former university classmate, and a recommadation from his old professor and mentor Martin J. Brabers, joined the senior staff of the Physics Dynamic Research Laboratory in Amsterdam.
There he begin his studies on the high strength metals to be used for the development of gas centrifuges.
The gas centrigues first studied by Jesse Beams durning the Manahattan Project in 1940s but research was discontinued in 1944.
